Parenting Resources

Missouri Common Core State Standards are updated English language arts and mathematics expectations providing additional clarity and depth to Missouri’s current grade-level expectations (GLEs) and course-level expectations (CLEs).

Developmental Milestones for children birth to five years of age has links to parenting tips for parents of infants through teens.  Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving "bye bye" are called developmental milestones. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, behave, and move and this site provides a chart for each age.

Early Literacy Milestones provides links in English and Spanish to early literacy milestones (infants through age five).  Reach Out and Read's well-known chart, MILESTONES OF EARLY LITERACY DEVELOPMENT, offers information - in an easy-to-read grid - on the developmental stages (both motor and cognitive) that lay the foundation for learning to read. Targeted to ages 6 months through 5 years, the MILESTONES include tips and guidance for healthcare providers, parents, and caregivers on choosing books and reading aloud to children at different ages.

Quality Care for Kids provides resources for parents that include a searchable childcare database.  Quality Care for Children works to ensure children receive excellent care and early learning experiences by 1) Finding Quality: Helping parents access quality, affordable care for their children and 2) Building Supply: Providing training and resources to child care providers to increase the overall quality of care. Quality Care for Children is the single source of child care referrals for the state of Georgia.

Zero to Three provides resources on early development, health and nutrition needs, parenting issues and more for young children.  The site is sponsored by the National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families.
